 Product Registration Web Pages for OEM Users Client: The Client is a world leader in Virus Management and Network Security with operations and partners in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. Background: When customers purchase a computer system from a retail outlet, the computer often comes bundled with software packages already installed (as opposed to customers purchasing individual software products and installing it themselves). These software packages are known as OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) software. Project Overview: The Client wanted to offer their OEM users a chance to register their software, view information on the latest products and an opportunity to upgrade to the latest version. Challenge: To provide the client with a web site through which they can: 1. register their OEM users 2. identify the needs of these users 3. follow up these users with any information they require. Solution: SGS provided a registration web page for the client. This registration web page would enable the client to obtain all the relevant information they need on their OEM users so as to initiate the appropriate follow up actions. Project Details: · OEM users of the product were given a URL to which they could go to register their software · SGS designed and built this registration web page for the Client · Web page was linked to a database which stored all the relevant information · Web page contained a survey which asked the user a series of questions to determine the type of user they are · If the user was a corporate user (i.e. the computer systems which had the OEM software were bought on behalf of a company), then their information would be passed to the client as leads to offer them the Enterprise Edition (this edition is for corporate users only) · If the user was a retail/home user, there was the opportunity to offer them product upgrades · Web page allowed the retail user to place an order online to SGS for an upgrade. |
